Postdoctoral Fellows: the Computable Plant Initiative
Two NSF-funded positions are available in the area of plant biomechanics and cellular engineering. The research fellowships are part of a collaboration that brings together mechanical modeling, soft matter physics, and modern plant biology. The goal is to understand how plants convert growth signals and tensile forces in cell walls into predictable morphogenetic outputs. How does the system operate across the spatial scales of cell-tissue-organ? Our recent publications show how finite element computational modeling and the experimental power of modern plant biology can be combined to discover control modules. This project will extend the approach and develop publicly available and user-friendly growth models. The project will occur at the Purdue University Colleges of Agriculture and En
