Regional Medical Director

The Regional Medical Director oversees the process of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with psychiatric disorders or potential for such disorders using his/her full scope of therapeutic skills, including the prescription of medication and administration of psychotherapy. He/she will work efficiently to attain and maintain the highest level of care in accordance with regulatory standards. He/she also supervises the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners in daily patient care duties and collaborates with the clinical team to deliver the highest standard of patient care. This is a remote administrative position that requires clinical time of approximately one-half day per week on-site with call responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Offer phone consultation to APRN and Facility Leadership on “as-needed” basis

•Complete signature needs with facility

•Individual/group supervision with Nurse Practitioner staff

•Communication with Chief Medical Officer on appropriate cadence

•Review new admissions with recent medical hospitalizations within 24 hours of admission

•Attend medical staff meeting

•Attend on-site visit for each site in-person

•Attend treatment team and/or facility leadership meetings

•Review Medical staffing and on-call schedule for accuracy and assist with any issues that may arise including ensuring holiday coverage is divided in an equitable manner

•Review PTO requests

•Participate in Medical Protocol Committee

•Assist with performance reviews

•Participate in recruitment and training process for medical staff

•Collaborate with implementation team for licensing and other needs for new facilities

•Collaborate with Nursing for specific facility needs

• Supervise and Maintain collaborative agreements with APRNs at the facilities

Education, Experience, and Training:

•Minimum 5 years’ experience

•Prior experience in the chemical dependency field strongly preferred

•Minimum 2 years’ experience in a managerial role

•Personal passion or interest in substance abuse issues strongly preferred

Certificates, Licensure, and Registrations:

•Must hold active Medical license and willing to become licensed in other states.

•Must be Board Certified or become Board Certified in Addiction Medicine within 2 years.

•Must hold or be willing to obtain DATA 2000 waiver prior to employment, 275 patient limit preferred.
