The role with MACL will be working onsite at either the St Vincent’s Hospital campus in Indianapolis or at our St Vincent's location in Evansville, Indiana. The Manager oversees the efficient and effective operation of the lab. At MACL, you’ll advance and extend your skills in this high-touch, high-visibility location. You will be helping others every day, both patients and your team, as you will be regularly called upon to lend your knowledge and expertise to a variety of activities.
Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, cleanup and maintenance
Audit daily workflow to ensure that all operations are in compliance with regulatory standards
Monitor the receipt, storage, and withdrawal of all laboratory specimens and tools
Stay abreast of industry news and research to consistently implement best practices into laboratory operations
Assist team with and perform lab techniques, when needed
Work closely with team members to provide effective solutions to support business and quality objectives
Facilitate effective communication across internal departments by trending and reporting data
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, budgets, and schedules
Establish and improve procedures and processes by addressing issues and risks
Ensure that environmental requirements are met at the federal, state, and local government levels
Act as a liaison between other laboratory and hospital departments in matters relating to operational and professional functions. Communicate with other departments throughout the company and the hospital to ensure a positive working relationship
Participate on hospital committees and teams as requested by hospital administration to ensure laboratory involvement in all levels of hospital activities
Establish and maintain working relationships with hospital administration and all hospital departments
Responsible for all regulatory agency requirements, e.g., FDA, CAP/CLIA, SDOH. Oversees the QC, preventive maintenance, proficiency testing and competency assessment for the department
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in science or related discipline
MT/MLS ASCP/AMT certification or equivalent
Three or more years of progressive supervisory or management experience in a medical laboratory
Four or more years’ experience working as a bench technologist
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (CAP, CLIA)
Strong problem-solving, training, team building, and mentoring abilities
Extraordinary written and verbal communication skills in order to interact with all levels of individuals within the organization
Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
